DeLauro Statement on the Teamsters’ Approval of the Sikorsky Deal

October 9, 2016

NEW HAVEN, CT (October 9, 2016) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement following the approval of an agreement between Lockheed Martin and the Teamsters that will allow Sikorsky to continue to have a strong presence in the State of Connecticut. The agreement between Lockheed Martin and Teamsters Local 1150 comes after both houses of the state legislature approved the deal last month.

“Today’s agreement between Lockheed Martin and Local 1150 will keep Sikorsky in Connecticut for years to come and will keep our hardworking men and women building the most advanced helicopters in the world. I am hopeful that we can build on this agreement and continue to bring more business to Sikorsky right here where it belongs. Over the last several months, I have worked with representatives from the unions, Sikorsky, Lockheed Martin, and the state to ensure that this helicopter will be built right here in Connecticut, and I am pleased that we have now finalized this agreement.”

DeLauro has long fought to keep Sikorsky headquarters, as well as the manufacturing of the CH-53K King Stallion helicopter, in the State of Connecticut. Earlier this year, DeLauro led discussions with the Department of the Navy and Lockheed Martin to strategize how to ensure the work is done in the state.
