DeLauro Statement on Trump Administration’s Overtime Rule Change
WASHINGTON, DC (March 8, 2019) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after the Department of Labor (DOL) proposed to change rules related to overtime pay.
"The Trump administration's new overtime rule shortchanges millions of American workers who deserve a raise. The rule change will cover 3.1 million fewer people than proposed by the Obama administration in 2016. People are struggling to make ends meet even though they are working longer and longer hours. That is wrong. We must do more to unrig rules that keep people from having basic economic security, and I will do everything I can to make sure working families are not forced to live paycheck-to-paycheck."
DeLauro serves as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for funding the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
