DeLauro Statement on Trump-Putin Summit

WASHINGTON, DC (July 16, 2018) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding President Trump's joint press conference with Vladimir Putin.

"President Trump's joint press conference with autocrat Vladimir Putin set a new foreign policy low—even for his shameful presidency. It is outrageous that he would publicly take Putin's side over our nation's intelligence agencies—especially so soon after Special Counsel Mueller's latest indictments that provided further evidence of Russian meddling in the 2016 election."

"A related and disturbing threat is the House Republican majority's plans to bring forward a funding bill this week that contains no additional funds to secure our elections against foreign threats. While I welcome bipartisan condemnation for Trump's shameful display, empty rhetoric is worthless without action to hold the President accountable and to prevent future assaults on our democracy. House Republicans are complicit in this treasonous moment in our history."
