DeLauro Sworn Into Office for the 115th Congress

January 3, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC (January 3, 2017) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement following her swearing-in for the 115th Congress, which took place earlier today.

"It is with my utmost gratitude that I thank the people of Connecticut's Third Congressional District for entrusting me to represent them for another term in the United States Congress. Our Founding Fathers placed the power of government with the American people and it is an honor to serve in this role and take the thoughts and concerns of my home state to Washington.

"At the core of my work in Congress has been my fight for American families, and I will continue to stand up and fight for policies such as equal pay for equal work, paid family and medical leave, health care for every American, biomedical research, and an investment in America's infrastructure. And while it will be an uphill climb under the next Administration, Congress is an institution that responds to pressure and I believe that we will continue to make progress on our goals.

"Over the next two years in Congress, I look forward to fighting for the people of Connecticut's Third Congressional District and working families from across the country. Though Democrats may be in the minority, I will never stop fighting for the policies I support and those my constituents elected me to represent."
