DeLauro Urges Constituents to Sign Up for Health Care Ahead of January 31 Deadline
WASHINGTON, DC (January 30, 2017) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement reminding constituents that January 31 is the final day for Americans to enroll for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.
"More than 11.5 million Americans have signed up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act for 2017. From covering pre-existing conditions to guaranteeing preventive health screenings for women, the ACA provides millions of Americans access to lifesaving care. With an enrollment deadline of January 31, Americans must take action today to sign up for coverage!
"Despite the Trump Administration's attempts to sabotage enrollment by pulling ads for the Affordable Care Act, the marketplaces are still open. And while some Americans may be concerned that President Trump will repeal the law and leave them without coverage, he cannot do that for the 2017 enrollment year. "
The Trump Administration has recently attempted to undermine enrollment in the Affordable Care Act when the program has historically seen the largest number of sign ups. Since the marketplaces opened three years ago, the final day of enrollment has been the second-biggest day of enrollment, topped only by December 15, which is the deadline for people seeking coverage effective January 1.
