House Democrats Elect DeLauro to Lead the Appropriations Committee for 119th Congress
Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), was selected by her Democratic colleagues to continue serving as Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee for the 119th Congress.
“I am honored that my colleagues selected me to continue serving as Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee in the 119th Congress,” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “Leading Democrats on the committee is a profound responsibility. I remain committed to passing funding bills that reflect our shared values as Americans. I will fight for bipartisan funding that helps Americans deal with the high cost of living, secures our border, keeps families safe, and protects Americans against extreme weather events and natural disasters while reinforcing United States leadership on the global stage. I will also safeguard Congress’s constitutional power of the purse and oppose any extreme proposals that harm the American people.”
As the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, DeLauro restored Congress’s power to deliver directly to communities across the country after more than a decade-long hiatus. She has secured more than $57 million for Connecticut’s Third Congressional District since 2021 to support local projects, including $3 million for the renovation of the Fair Haven Health Clinic and resources for local police, Boys and Girls Clubs, and infrastructure projects. She has passed dozens of bipartisan funding bills, including major increases in funding for child care, Head Start, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, the National Institutes of Health, and national defense.
