New Haven’s Worthington Hooker School Is Chosen to Receive Prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today applauded the announcement that Worthington Hooker School in New Haven was selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive the distinguished Blue Ribbon Award. Worthington Hooker School is one of 335 schools across the nation to be presented with the award this year. They are one of only four in Connecticut.
“Worthington Hooker is more than deserving of this honor. This recognition is evidence of the hard work and commitment by the teachers, students and parents of this school. Worthington Hooker is a model school where children have been given the opportunity to blossom academically and achieve success. It affirms the fact that high expectations, quality teachers, and dedicated students and teachers can take our schools to the next level.”
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established in 1982 by the U.S. Secretary of Education to identify and recognize for their excellence outstanding public and private schools across the United States. Schools are nominated by the State Department of Education and undergo a demanding self-assessment experience.
Worthington Hooker joins more than 8,000 schools that have been recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools since 1982.
