DeLauro Statement on Stratford Child Testing Positive for Coronavirus

March 12, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 12, 2020) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement after a child in Stratford tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

"I am closely monitoring the situation after learning our District has its first presumptive positive COVID-19 case—a child in Stratford. My thoughts are with their family at this time, and I wish them a speedy recovery. Once again, I thank Governor Lamont, Public Health Commissioner Coleman-Mitchell, and all of our state officials and healthcare workers for their continued work on behalf of the people of Connecticut. This situation is evolving rapidly, and their quick and decisive actions to inform the public and reduce interactions between people is undoubtedly saving lives. I will continue working in Washington to bring the full resources of the federal government to bear to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus."

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020 (H.R. 6074)—an $8.3 billion emergency supplemental funding agreement to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19)—which was later signed into law.
