Specifically, the Congresswoman visited to highlight the Veterans Workforce Investment Program, which is part of The Workplace, Inc., and focuses on training veterans in the green energy sector.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement today praising the Department of Health and Human Services for establishing the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan. This transition program, created by the Affordable Care Act, offers coverage to uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions until the permanent ban of such discriminatory practices in 2014.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement in response to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack's announcement today that the USDA has issued tougher new standards for ground beef purchased by the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to be used in federal food and nutrition assistance programs, including the National School Lunch Program.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3), chairwoman of the House Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, marked up the subcommittee's fiscal year 2011 bill. The Chairman's Mark includes $23 billion in total discretionary spending – $204 million below the FY2010 enacted level and $27 million below the President's request.

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced a grant today from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of nearly $1.4 million to the state of Connecticut, specifically designated for East Haven, to help prevent future flood damage. The funds, which will be used to acquire and demolish five flood-prone homes there, were made available through a Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL) Grant from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
