Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) delivered the following statement on the Paycheck Fairness Act (H.R. 12) on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. The legislation aimed at closing the wage gap between men and women, is, along with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, among the first substantive legislation considered by the House in the 111th Congress.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) issued the following statement on the on-going investigation into a salmonella outbreak that has infected at least 388 people in 42 states since 3 September 2008. Because the source of the outbreak is unknown, it is unclear whether this outbreak falls under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration or the Department of Agriculture.
WASHINGTON, DC – A large scale economic recovery package is needed to create jobs quickly, provide relief for workers and families, help states facing severe budget shortfalls, and invest in innovation and emerging industries, a bipartisan panel of economic experts and scientists told lawmakers on Capitol Hill today. Economists warned that, unless comprehensive action is taken, the economy will shed another 3 million jobs in 2009, real Gross Domestic Product could drop by $750 billion, and the unemployment rate will top 10 percent.
(Hartford) - Following the passage of a Hurricane Sandy relief package by the United States Senate yesterday, all five members of the Connecticut congressional delegation released a joint statement calling on House leadership to vote on the bill:
