Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) made the following statement today regarding the serious accident at the Science Park construction site in New Haven that severely injured four ironworkers.

Congresswoman DeLauro said, "My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured workers and their families. My office has been in contact with OSHA and Andy Esposito, head of Ironworkers Local 424, to offer our assistance after this terrible accident."

Tours campus, learns about Welding Fundamentals Program


New Haven, CT –Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) visited the Naugatuck Valley Community College today, touring the campus, meeting with students and faculty, and learning about the Welding Fundamentals Program, which prepares students for careers in fields such as manufacturing and construction.

HARTFORD, CT – Today, members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation announced a $93 million Recovery Act investment that will help improve broadband internet access to improve the state's education system and public safety capabilities. The funding was announced at two events, one this morning in Hartford and the second this afternoon in Stamford, where Congressional delegation members were joined by Lawrence E. Strickling, Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Potentially contaminated milk sold in 5 Northeast states including CT


New Haven, CT—Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3), Chairwoman of the FDA and Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement today in reaction to the recall of milk sold in five Northeastern states, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island, that may not have been properly pasteurized. Milk that has not been pasteurized is susceptible to contaminants like listeria and salmonella.

New Haven, CT—Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) announced today that a $2.5 million Department of Transportation grant has been awarded to the Middletown Transit District (MTD) to improve the bus services for the city. These funds will enable the Middletown Transit District to purchase a building for use as a dispatch facility, maintain their fleet of vehicles and training for employees.

DeLauro (CT-3) announced today that the city of New Haven was selected to receive a grant of $1,041,579 through the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Originally funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), these funds are part of an additional $1 billion that have been made available through the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
