Responds to FDA advisory panel's recommendations


Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement today in reaction to an FDA advisory panel that voted today on the controversial diabetes drug Avandia. The panel voted in favor of restricting the sales of the drug, but not to remove it from the market. A final decision will be made by the FDA at a later date.

Hamden, Stratford, West Haven, and New Haven to receive funds


Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced today the award of $9,089,530 in housing grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds, which include Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG), HOME program grants, and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) grants, will go to Hamden, Stratford, West Haven, and New Haven, and are to be distributed as such:

Hamden CDBG $590,888.00

FDA review shows popular diabetes drug is dangerous


Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today in response to the FDA's reassessment of the diabetes drug Avandia. Dr. Thomas Marciniak, the medical reviewer of the Avandia trials, suggests that critical details were misinterpreted by the maker of the drug, GlaxoSmithKline.

This transition program, created by the Affordable Care Act, offers coverage to uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions until the permanent ban of such discriminatory practices in 2014.
