Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement today in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act being signed into law.

After working at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Lilly Ledbetter sued the company when she learned that she was paid less than her male counterparts, and won. However, the Supreme Court reversed the decision, claiming that she had waited too long to sue for pay discrimination. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act restores employees' rights to challenge pay discrimination.

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) praised President Obama's support of a national infrastructure bank during his remarks in Florida today.

The president stated that he hopes to create a national infrastructure bank, an objective entity aiming to depoliticize the process, and that can take a merit-based approach towards infrastructure project funding. Such a bank would create jobs, improve our infrastructure through a competitive process, and spur economic growth to keep our nation competitive in the 21st century.

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) announced today the award of $40 million in funding for the High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail (HSIPR) Program, which will affect the New Haven- Springfield Amtrak Northeast Regional service.

Washington, D.C. – In response to last Thursday's Supreme Court decision in the case of Citizens United v. F.E.C., Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) introduced legislation today aimed at preventing US subsidiaries of foreign corporations from interfering with domestic elections, the Prevent Foreign Influence in our Elections Act.

Via teleconference, Congresswoman DeLauro and Senator Dodd spoke of the successes of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and the need for further steps to ensure equal pay for equal work.
