$530,473 Grant Will Work to Improve Urban Housing in Milford

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today applauded the announcement by the Department of Housing and Urban Development that a $530,473 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) will be made available to help improve low and moderate-income housing in the City of Milford, Connecticut.

Cites Strong Commitment to Military Personnel and Their Families, Emphasis on Military Readiness

Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. – 3) today applauded the FY10 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 2647) as important legislation that makes a strong commitment to military personnel and their families, restores our nation's military readiness and protects our troops in harms way. The bill was passed by the House of Representative today by a 281 to 146 vote.

Urges Action on Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health urging Congressional action on her legislation, H.R. 1691, the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which would ensure that a decision to remain in the hospital following a mastectomy is made by the patient and her doctor, and not an insurance company bureaucrat.

$1 Million in Funding Will Aid Empowerment Zone Organization

DeLauro (D-CT) today heralded the announcement by the Department of Health and Human Services that $1 million in Recovery Act funds will be granted to Empower New Haven (ENH), a non-profit organization formed in 1999.
