New Statistics Show FMLA Has Been Used More Than 200 Million Times

WASHINGTON, DC--Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) being signed by President Clinton. DeLauro’s home state of Connecticut passed the first-ever state family and medical leave legislation in 1989.

WASHINGTON, DC—Hamden resident Maria Praeli, a junior at Quinnipiac University, was one of six Dreamers who met with President Obama today. Maria was brought to the United States at the age of five from Peru. Since then she has graduated from Gateway Community College, where she served as Student Body President, and enrolled at Quinnipiac, where she is currently a political science major.

WASHINGTON, DC— Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Steve Israel (D-NY) and Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the Breast Density and Mammography Reporting Act today. The bill would help raise awareness of breast cancer risks and the importance of appropriate screening. Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) are introducing a companion bill in the Senate.

“My deepest condolences go out to the families of the six people who tragically passed away and those who were on the train. A profound ‘thank you’ goes out to the first responders who assisted those on the scene. Federal investigators will determine what happened and how we can keep it from happening again. We must find a way to ensure that something as simple as a commute home does not become a deadly accident.”
