The changes announced today will also better equip families to purchase foods that meet their cultural requirements. DeLauro is a former chairwoman of the subcommittee that funds the United States Department of Agriculture, which administers WIC.

The labels, which have not been significantly changed in twenty years, will now identify how much added sugar is in a product, which DeLauro has long advocated for. UTC also committed to keeping its Pratt & Whitney division headquarters in the state for 15 years, though it only made the same commitment to keeping its Sikorsky headquarters in Stratford for five years.
