DeLauro Decries Governor Walker's Overturning Of Wisconsin Equal Pay Law


Washington, DC –Congresswoman DeLauro issued the following statement in response to Governor Walker's action overturning the Wisconsin equal pay law.

"Last Thursday, April 5, Governor Scott Walker continued the war against women by signing a bill repealing Wisconsin's 2009 Equal Pay Enforcement Act. The 2009 Act allowed victims of workplace discrimination to seek damages in state courts.

New Haven, CT - Today, officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) met with town officials and representatives of concerned citizens groups to discuss the Agency's report on the proposed use of thermochemical conversion in the remediation plans for the remaining contamination associated with the Raymark Superfund site. New Haven, CT - Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Ranking Member on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, released the following statement today in response to Education Secretary Duncan's announcement that $133 million of this year's Race to the Top funds will be used to provide Early Learning Challenge grants to five states. These awards build upon the nine Early Learning Challenge grants awarded in 2011.

New Haven, CT — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today applauded the recent decision by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to award a $2.9 million Public Assistance grant to the Town of Milford. The funds will be used to repair the stone revetment protecting the Trumbull Ave. public roadway, which was dislodged by the strong surge tides and wave energy accompanying Tropical Storm Irene. The federal share of assistance is 75% of the total cost of the Trumbull Ave. revetment.

New USDA Report Finds Food Stamps Key to Reducing the Severity of Poverty, Particularly Among Children

Washington, DC— Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Ranking Member on the Labor, Health, and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, called on U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Vilsack to label mechanically tenderized beef products to better protect the public from foodborne illness. A 2008 USDA study indicated that approximately 50 million pounds of mechanically tenderized beef products were sold every month.
