Goal is to Provide Americans with Easy to Read, Easy to Understand Information on Health Insurance

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) and Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) today asked three federal agencies to insist on strong rules so that consumers can easily understand their health coverage and determine the best insurance for themselves and their families. They also urged the Administration to reject calls from the insurance industry and others who are already trying to weaken the regulations.

DeLauro (CT-3), Ranking Member on the Labor, Health, and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement following the Food and Drug Administration's decision to revoke the approval of the cancer drug Avastin due to its potentially dangerous side effects.

Congresswoman DeLauro had previously called for action on this medication in December of 2010, when the FDA had originally made their recommendation to remove the breast cancer indication from the label for Avastin.

VOW to Hire Heroes Act will create jobs, put veterans to work

This legislation will provide veterans with job training opportunities and businesses with tax credits to encourage them to hire service members and veterans with service-related disabilities as proposed in President Obama’s American Jobs Act.
