Adler as a new commissioner of the CPSC, as well as his plans to strengthen the CPSC by expanding the panel from three commissioners to five.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) announced $212,000 to repair the aging sea wall of the Outer Island through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Outer Island, the farthest of the Thimble Islands in Branford, is an outdoor classroom for the Connecticut State University and is part of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge.

DeLauro (Conn. -3) issued the following statement on the decision by the Defense Department's Office of the Inspector General to withdraw a report it issued regarding the Pentagon's propaganda program revealed last year. Last year, DeLauro, led a coalition of Members to press for the investigation and joined with colleagues to successfully include language in the Fiscal Year 2009 National Defense Authorization Act requiring the IG to submit a report to Congress.

The National Institute of Health directs funding to projects that focus on basic research to improve the quality of life and reduce the burdens of illness and disability.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) issued the following statement on the Obama's Administration's announcement of efforts to reform the tax code to curb the abuse of offshore tax shelters and eliminate tax incentives for shifting jobs overseas. Earlier this year, DeLauro, with Congressman Lloyd Doggett, re-introduced the Stop Tax Haven Abuses Act (H.R. 1265) to close the loopholes that allow offshore tax shelters and cost taxpayers nearly $100 billion a year.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) announced that the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University will receive a federal grant of $149,282 through the Institute of Museum and Library Services to conserve and rehouse approximately 7,600 specimens in the Vertebrate Paleontology Fossil Fish collection. While the Institute received 129 applications for a Conservation Project Support grant, the Peabody was one of thirty-five selected to receive funding.
