Today, U.S Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA), Jenniffer González-Cólon (R-PR), Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA), Don Young (R-AK) joined by Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced the Wise Investment in Children Act (WIC Act). The legislation would extend the eligibility for children to participate in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) until their sixth birthday, extend the certification period to two years, and extend post-partum eligibility to two years for all mothers.

U.S. Representatives Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), Lloyd Doggett (TX-35), Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), and Andy Levin (MI-09) urged President Biden to support an emergency temporary waiver of some Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) rules so that greater supplies of vaccines, treatments, and diagnostic tests can be produced globally. At a press conference, the Members emphasized the importance of U.S. leadership in crushing the coronavirus around the world.

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today announced that Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center in New Haven, CT, is invited to join the next phase of the Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program to ensure our nation’s underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by COVID-19 are equitably vaccinated. With this addition to the program, all three community health centers in Connecticut’s Third Congressional District will be able to receive and administer the coronavirus vaccine once they complete the onboarding process and receive an allocation of doses.
