New Haven, CT – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro today applauded the decision of HUD to award $2.48 million each to the City of New Haven and the Naugatuck Valley Health District. "I fought hard to see that HUD was aware of the housing conditions in New Haven and the Valley," said Congresswoman DeLauro, "and I am happy that both were awarded funding that ultimately will help make our children safer." With this funding, the City of New Haven and the Naugatuck Valley Health District will provide safer homes for families with children by removing lead-hazards in 380 housing units.
Washington, DC— Representatives Rosa DeLauro today announced a $554,148 Housing and Urban Development- Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) award to the Housing Authority of the City of New Haven and a $137,064 award to the West Haven Housing Authority. The HUD-VASH program combines rental assistance for homeless veterans coupled with case management and clinic assistance provided by the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) medical centers.
