Today, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), and Chair of the House Education and Labor Committee Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) introduced the Wage Theft Prevention and Wage Recovery Act, comprehensive legislation to put hard-earned wages back in workers’ pockets and crack down on employers who unfairly withhold wages from their employees. This bill would give workers the right to receive full compensation for the work they perform, as well as the right to receive regular paystubs and final paychecks in a timely manner.

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) today submitted for the record a report acquired from a whistleblower who worked at the Abbott facility which produces infant formula recalled by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in February. Chair DeLauro spoke about the report at the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Request for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) hearing.

U.S. House Appropriations Chair Rosa DeLauro applauded the United States Senate confirmation of Associate Attorney General Vanessa Avery to be Connecticut's next U.S. Attorney, making her the first Black woman to serve as the state's top federal law enforcement officer. Avery grew up in New Haven and is a graduate of New Haven Public Schools.

United States Representatives Katie Porter (D-CA-45), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL-09) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led their colleagues in sending a letter to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure highlighting concerns about overpayments to Medicare Advantage plans that line the pockets of big insurance companies. The letter urges CMS to mitigate the announced payment increases so they are on par with payments to Traditional Medicare. Sent by a total of 19 members of the Senate and the House, the letter also calls on CMS to increase transparency in the Medicare Advantage program.
