Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement in response to news that the Abbott Nutrition facility responsible for the February recall of infant formula would reopen and resume infant formula manufacturing operations.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today sent a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) requesting an investigation into the enforcement discretion process and decisions being made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the importation of infant formula from non-FDA approved facilities abroad.

Today, House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), announced that Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company in Stratford, Connecticut, was awarded an additional $185,694,050 for the procurement and delivery of two CH-53K Heavy Lift Aircrafts.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, today introduced the Keep Infant Formula Safe and on the Shelves Act, legislation that will ensure that an infant formula shortage cannot potentially happen again.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro today applauded the House Judiciary Committee for their vote to send the Protecting Our Kids Act package of gun legislation to the House floor. The full package, which contains safe storage legislation authored by DeLauro, will be voted on the floor of the House of Representatives next week.

"When Abbott announced their voluntary recall of infant formula in February, I immediately wrote to the HHS Office of Inspect General requesting an investigation into whether the Food and Drug administration took prompt and appropriate action in response to the recall.

"Predatory, for-profit colleges account for nearly one third of defaults. These institutions mislead students, pressure them into taking out costly loans, overpromise on their future earnings, and scam taxpayers and working families out of millions of dollars. We have a duty to hold these perpetrators accountable.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today held a press conference with Connecticut state officials to highlight House-passage of the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act. This bill empowers the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to stop price gouging on consumers fuels.
