GOP Prevents Committee from Having a Debate on the Merits

WASHINGTON, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement on the Republican Appropriators’ rejection of her amendment to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, as called for in the Fair Minimum Wage Act (H.R. 1010). In 2006, the House Appropriations Committee acted in a bipartisan way to raise the minimum wage with President Bush ultimately signing legislation to increase the wage in 2007.

WASHINGTON, DC—A portion of the Rail Safety Enforcement Act was included in the Transportation-Housing and Urban Development funding bill that passed the House Appropriations Committee today. The legislation was introduced earlier this month by Connecticut Representatives Rosa DeLauro, who serves on the Committee, Jim Himes and Elizabeth Esty, and New York Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.

Inadequacies in Protecting Worker Rights in Deal Must Not be repeated in TPP

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today marking the two year anniversary of the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement. The anniversary comes as negotiations over a potential Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade agreement are ongoing in Vietnam, where workers face many of the same exploitative conditions as those in Colombia.
