WASHINGTON, DC—Representatives Rosa DeLauro and Lloyd Doggett today proposed a ban on Pentagon contracts with corporations that were incorporated in the United States, but have been reincorporated in the tax havens of Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. The proposal was offered as an amendment to the 2015 Department of Defense funding bill and was accepted by voice vote. They offered a similar amendment to the Fiscal Year 2015 Transportation-Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill, which was included in the version passed by the House of Representatives last week.

Improperly Processed Meat Was Sent To Connecticut Distribution Center

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) today asked the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a briefing on how meat potentially tainted with mad cow disease was allowed to leave processing facilities for nearly eight months. The potentially tainted beef went to a Whole Foods distribution center in Connecticut that serves stores in southern New England.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) today voted for legislation funding the Department of Defense for fiscal year 2015. That bill, approved by the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, contains an amendment authored by DeLauro that strengthens the ban on Defense Department (DOD) contracts with Rosoboronexport. DeLauro’s amendment was approved by a voice vote.

Calls for Passage of Paycheck Fairness Act to Remedy Ongoing Discrimination

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) celebrated today’s 51st anniversary of the Equal Pay Act by calling on Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act.
