NEW HAVEN, CT— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today in reaction to news reports that Rancho Feeding Corp. was buying diseased animals and processing them without the knowledge of US Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspectors. In February 8.7 million pounds – one year’s worth of production – of beef and cow parts from Rancho were recalled.

For the next year her photograph, “Boots,” will represent the Third Congressional District of Connecticut in the United States Capitol. Martine is a student at Amity High School in Woodbridge.

WASHINGTON, DC—Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) today urged Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan to address the growing issue of unaccompanied homeless youth. Unaccompanied youth live on their own, without a parent or other adult guardian, and are under age 25. According to HUD’s 2013 Point-in-Time Estimate of Homelessness, over 45,000 unaccompanied youth experience homelessness on a given night.
