That bill is scheduled to be considered by the full committee tomorrow. Last week Republicans on the Agriculture subcommittee voted to undo the progress made to make school meals healthier under the 2010 Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act.

WASHINGTON, DC—A bipartisan amendment, led by Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Kay Granger (R-TX), that strengthens the ban on Defense Department (DOD) contracts with Rosoboronexport, was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed by Congress today. DeLauro and Granger have led congressional opposition to DOD’s relationship with Rosoboronexport, the Russian state arms dealer.

GOP Prevents Committee from Having a Debate on the Merits

WASHINGTON, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement on the Republican Appropriators’ rejection of her amendment to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, as called for in the Fair Minimum Wage Act (H.R. 1010). In 2006, the House Appropriations Committee acted in a bipartisan way to raise the minimum wage with President Bush ultimately signing legislation to increase the wage in 2007.

WASHINGTON, DC—A portion of the Rail Safety Enforcement Act was included in the Transportation-Housing and Urban Development funding bill that passed the House Appropriations Committee today. The legislation was introduced earlier this month by Connecticut Representatives Rosa DeLauro, who serves on the Committee, Jim Himes and Elizabeth Esty, and New York Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.
