"I understand that we face challenges in Afghanistan and Pakistan that are critical to our national security and that we need to maintain a clear mission focused on dismantling, disrupting and defeating al Qaeda in that region. I believe that such a strategy must involve all elements of U.S. power-military, diplomatic, economic and political-as well as enhanced cooperation with our traditional allies and other partners in the region.
Praises progress in ensuring care for those living with the disease

Calls for action in response to largest-ever crib recall
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) called for strong consumer protection laws today in reaction to the largest ever recall of cribs issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
More than 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs, sold across in the United States and Canada, are being recalled due to a danger of entrapment and suffocation when certain parts break or detach. There have been over 100 incidents of entrapments and falls reported, and four deaths.

H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009, will repeal the outdated Sustainable Growth Rate formula with a stable system that ends the cycle of threats of ever-larger fee cuts followed by short-term patches.
