Urges Warning Labels to be Revised and to be Featured More Prominently

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today sent a letter to Commissioner Margaret Hamburg of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) urging the FDA to expedite its review and promulgation of regulations in order to reclassify indoor tanning devices to reflect the threat these devices pose, and require warning labels to be located in a prominent location so that they could be seen by consumers.

Washington , D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement on the announcement by the Food and Drug Administration about the agency's approach to "front of package" (FOP) labeling.

"I am very encouraged by FDA's commitment to proceed with enforcement actions in cases where front-of-package labeling makes unauthorized nutrient content claims. I commend the agency for proposing to work with the food industry, nutrition scientists, consumer groups and the Institute of Medicine to develop an optimal, common approach to nutrition-related labeling.

$530,473 Grant Will Work to Improve Urban Housing in Milford

DeLauro (D-CT) today applauded the announcement by the Department of Housing and Urban Development that a $530,473 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) will be made available to help improve low and moderate-income housing in the City of Milford, Connecticut.

Urges Action on Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health urging Congressional action on her legislation, H.R. 1691, the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which would ensure that a decision to remain in the hospital following a mastectomy is made by the patient and her doctor, and not an insurance company bureaucrat.
