Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) voted today to avert a scheduled 21 percent fee reduction for physicians and replace the flawed Medicare physician payment system with a new approach to ensure fairness and stability in physician payments.

H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009, will repeal the outdated Sustainable Growth Rate formula with a stable system that ends the cycle of threats of ever-larger fee cuts followed by short-term patches.

Bill Will Guarantee Up to Seven Days of Paid Sick Leave for Workers Infected By the H1N1 Virus

Washington, DC – Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-3) today will introduce emergency legislation that will guarantee paid sick days for those who are infected by the H1N1 virus. Asks IG to investigate scientific merits and potential shortcomings of industry testing method adopted by FSIS

DeLauro (D-CT) today, in light of the recent E. coli outbreak involving ground beef, sent a letter to the USDA Office of the Inspector General (IG) calling for an investigation into the scientific merits and potential shortcoming of the N-60 testing protocol, which is a beef testing protocol promoted by the meat industry and relied upon by USDA.
