Praises inclusion of funding projects for 3rd Congressional District in Omnibus bill
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT -3) today applauded the passage of the 2010 fiscal year Consolidated Omnibus Appropriations Act, H.R. 3288, and its continued focus on funding America's priorities, rebuilding and strengthening our economy, and keeping our country safe.
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today introduced the Equality for Women Farmers Act. She was joined by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (CA-14), an original co-sponsor of the bill, and by six women farmers who shared their stories of discrimination by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) simply because of their gender.
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today released the following statement in response to the defeat of Senator Ben Nelson's amendment to the Senate's version of the health reform bill.
The Nelson amendment, which was similar to the Stupak amendment included in the House of Representatives' version of health reform legislation, would have restricted private insurers from covering abortion services in insurance plans receiving government subsidies in the proposed health insurance Exchange.
Company repeatedly found in violation of food safety requirements
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today called for the closure of Beef Packers, Inc. in the wake of a 22,723 pound recall of beef suspected to be contaminated with salmonella Newport. The Cargill-owned company has a history of food safety violations, including a nearly 860,000 pound recall earlier this year of meat contaminated with the same strain of salmonellosis suspected in this recall.
Washington, DC— In preparation for the 2010 reauthorization of the Water Resources Development Act, Congresswoman DeLauro (CT-3) requested authorization to fund the following projects of the Army Corps of Engineers:
• Replacement of the storm-damaged bulkhead along the West River area of New Haven Harbor in West Haven, preventing further erosion and pollution.
• The Quinnipiac River Shore Front Stabilization Project, consisting of bulkhead restorations and storm damage repairs at three locations.
Urges opposition to Stupak amendment
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) attended an event held by the Coalition to Pass Health Care Reform and Stop Stupak!, two advocacy groups opposed to the inclusion of the Stupak amendment in the final health reform bill.

"I understand that we face challenges in Afghanistan and Pakistan that are critical to our national security and that we need to maintain a clear mission focused on dismantling, disrupting and defeating al Qaeda in that region. Praises progress in ensuring care for those living with the disease

Calls for action in response to largest-ever crib recall
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) called for strong consumer protection laws today in reaction to the largest ever recall of cribs issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
More than 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs, sold across in the United States and Canada, are being recalled due to a danger of entrapment and suffocation when certain parts break or detach. There have been over 100 incidents of entrapments and falls reported, and four deaths.
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today urged the local communities to support the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots campaign. DeLauro was joined by Jeff Williams, Executive Director of the Hamden/ North Haven YMCA, and members of the United States Marine Corps, who sponsor the annual drive.
