WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Connecticut Congressional delegation announced that the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) will receive $34 million from the U.S. Treasury Department from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to spur the development of affordable housing across the state. In Connecticut, fewer houses are under construction, which means job losses in the building trades and related industries. And as more people are out of a job, affordable housing is in increasing demand.

DeLauro (Conn. – 3) announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation will receive over $2.3 million from the Federal Transit Administration through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for projects in five Rural Transit Districts, including the Middletown Transit District.
"This funding will help to strengthen and improve Connecticut's mass transit system. In doing so we will promote the use of mass transit and reduce the harmful pollution that causes global warming, as well as create jobs," said DeLauro.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) welcomed the announcement that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut's request to raise their individual health insurance policy rates by as much as 32 percent was denied by the Connecticut Insurance Department. Earlier this week, DeLauro, joined by Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2) wrote to Anthem President David Fusco urging the company to withdraw the increase that is expected to affect over 55,000 Connecticut residents.
