Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) expressed her support for stop-gap funding for the "Cash for Clunkers" program by allowing the Administration to transfer up to $2 billion from the Department of Energy's Innovative Technology Loan Guarantee Program, which does not expect to award funding until late next year. The program allows consumers to trade in their old, gas-guzzling vehicles and receive vouchers worth up to $4,500 to help pay for new, more fuel efficient cars and trucks.

Washington, D.C. – With dairy farmers in Connecticut struggling to get by, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), chairwoman of the Agriculture - Food and Drug Administration Appropriations Subcommittee, applauded the decision by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to increase the amount paid for dairy products through the Dairy Product Price Support Program (DPPSP), which will increase dairy farmers' revenue by approximately $243 million. The increases will be in place from August 2009 through October 2009. DeLauro is also a member of the recently revived Congressional Dairy Caucus.

Washington, D.C. – As a long-time proponent of reforming the nation's food safety system, Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3), chairwoman of the Agriculture – Food and Drug Administration Appropriations Subcommittee, spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in support of the Food Safety Enhancement Act (H.R. 2749). The legislation gives the FDA the authority and resources it needs to prevent food-borne illnesses from occurring and the tools to respond if they do.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement on a report in the journal Lancet Oncology by a special committee of the World Health Organization for Research on Cancer, which concluded that all types of ultraviolet light – whether UV-A or UV-B – used in tanning beds is as carcinogenic as asbestos, radium, arsenic and cigarettes.

DeLauro (Conn. -3) announced over $13 million for three police departments in Connecticut to hire and rehire over 60 law enforcement officers through funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for the COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) Program. Washington, D.C. – The National Governor's Association endorsed the creation of a National Infrastructure Bank, joining the broad coalition supporting Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro's (CT-3) National Infrastructure Development Bank Act.
