This morning President Obama made a powerful statement about his priorities for our nation when he signed his first piece of legislation into law. I was so proud and honored to stand with my colleagues beside the president as he put pen to paper, signed his name, and enacted the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) issued the following statement regarding the ongoing investigation into Peanut Corporation of America's connection to the Salmonella outbreak. A report in the Washington Post found that Peanut Corporation of America knowingly shipped out contaminated peanut butter over a dozen times in the past two years. The Salmonella outbreak involving peanut butter products has been linked to eight deaths and has sickened approximately 500 people across the country.

Bill restores worker's rights, critical 1st step to help close wage gap

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3) enthusiastically joined with her colleagues to give final approval to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (S. 181) and to send the bill to President Barack Obama as one of the first major pieces of legislation he will sign into law. This important step in the effort to close the wage gap between men and women would restore federal law by reversing a Supreme Court decision that left women without remedy to pursue gender-based pay discrimination.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) issued the following statement on the on-going salmonella outbreak that the Food and Drug Administration recently tied to peanut butter and peanut paste from a Peanut Corporation of America plant in Blakely, Georgia. While the facility does not sell directly to consumers, it does supply peanut butter to institutions, such as schools, hospitals universities and health care facilities, as well as supplies peanut paste to companies, and other manufacturers for a variety of products, including cookies, crackers, and ice cream.

The GAO has conducted the high risk series since 1990.
