DeLauro (CT-3) announced that East Haven will receive a $1.9 million federal Hazard Mitigation Program Grant, Non Emergency through the Federal Emergency Management Agency to mitigate or remove entirely the likelihood of future flood insurance claims from some coastal and river properties.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn. -3), alarmed by the latest developments in the investigation into Peanut Corporation of America, which revealed that the company sold roasted peanuts and peanut butter to the nation's school lunch program, wrote to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack seeking information on how the agency procures peanut products for the program.

DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement following news from the Labor Department that in January the economy shed another 598,000jobs – the largest monthly job loss since the start of the recession in December of 2007. This brings the total payroll jobs lost to 3.6 million since the start of the recession. Additionally, the job-loss figures for December were revised upward – to 577,000 from the earlier number of 524,000. Further the unemployment rate jumped to 7.6 percent from 7.2 percent in December.

"It is unfortunate and disappointing that on the same day as we celebrate President Obama's signing into law the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization, Governor Rell proposed a budget that would cut back some of the very health care services that Congress fought so hard to preserve and expand.
