Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified Connecticut that the state will receive approximately $53 million from the $220 million in disaster assistance for small and medium-sized farmers through the Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant Program. DeLauro created and secured funding for this grant program in the government funding and disaster assistance package signed into law last December.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), is in Griffin Hospital for surgery today to treat Spinal Stenosis, “a common treatment for a common occurrence”, according to Dr. Judith L. Gorelick, a board-certified neurosurgeon, who will be performing the procedure.
As is routine for such surgery, physical therapy will follow. Rep. DeLauro will resume her schedule while physical therapy continues and return to DC when Congress reconvenes in September.

“I am relieved that Esdras’ deportation flight has been canceled – but that is not enough. He is not a threat. He works a job, goes to school, and is beloved by his classmates and community. He should be released from detention immediately and allowed to return his life in New Haven.
