Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and nine other members of the Food Safety Caucus sent a letter to Boar’s Head questioning its reported decision to reopen its Jarratt, Virginia facility which was at the center of last year’s deadly Listeria outbreak which led to nearly 60 hospitalizations and at least 10 deaths. DeLauro is the Chair of the Food Safety Caucus.

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified Connecticut that the state will receive approximately $53 million from the $220 million in disaster assistance for small and medium-sized farmers through the Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant Program. DeLauro created and secured funding for this grant program in the government funding and disaster assistance package signed into law last December.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), is in Griffin Hospital for surgery today to treat Spinal Stenosis, “a common treatment for a common occurrence”, according to Dr. Judith L. Gorelick, a board-certified neurosurgeon, who will be performing the procedure. 

As is routine for such surgery, physical therapy will follow. Rep. DeLauro will resume her schedule while physical therapy continues and return to DC when Congress reconvenes in September.
