Malloy today in applauding news that Workforce Alliance Inc. and Capital Workforce Partners have received Ready To Work grants from the U.S. Department of Labor. Workforce Alliance, and their partner the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB), has been awarded $5,490,000 and Capital Workforce Partners $6,695,685.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month by calling for passage of the Breast Density and Mammography Reporting Act. The bill, introduced by DeLauro last year, would help raise awareness of breast cancer risks, the importance of appropriate screening.

NEW HAVEN, CT—In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to decline appeals to marriage equality victories in five states, plus yesterday’s Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision striking down bans in Nevada and Idaho, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today applauded those decisions and called on Speaker of the House John Boehner to take up and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. DeLauro is a cosponsor of the legislation, which would prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Labor-HHS-Education subcommittee is responsible for funding the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).
