NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) today wrote to the 50 billionaires recently revealed to be receiving farm subsidies, calling for accountability on behalf of American taxpayers. She asked the billionaires if they have received farm subsidies since 2008 to shed light on the hypocrisy of wasting taxpayer dollars on wealthy individuals while cutting money from programs, like food stamps, that feed poor Americans.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced today US Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki is allowing 23 Connecticut veterans to stay in their current retirement homes through next September. Without Shinseki’s intervention they would have been forced to leave at the end of this year.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today applauded progress on removal of the Pond Lily Dam. The Department of Interior recently announced they are awarding $661,500 to remove the dam, which has caused regular flooding in Woodbridge's Village District for decades, causing safety problems and property damage. She was joined at a press conference by representatives from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the City of New Haven, the Town of Woodbridge, Save the Sound and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Connecticut's delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives today advocated for Sikorsky's world-class helicopters in a letter to the Norwegian Ambassador. Sikorsky was recently removed from the competitive bidding process on a contract by the Norwegian government, but Norway has had a change in government since that initial decision was made.

NEW HAVEN, CT – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today announced Connecticut is receiving $67.584 million from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP helps low income households pay their energy bills and is particularly crucial as we move in to the winter. DeLauro is the senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Health and Human Services, which administers LIHEAP.

Provides information about breast density, risk for developing breast cancer

Washington, D.C.— Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Steve Israel (D-NY) introduced the Breast Density and Mammography Reporting Act today. The bill would help raise awareness of breast cancer risks and the importance of appropriate screening. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) will introduce a companion bill in the Senate soon. DeLauro and Israel introduced similar legislation in the 112th Congress.

Among The Smallest Changes in Almost 40 Years

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today on the Social Security Administration's announcement that recipients will see only a 1.5 percent increase in benefits next year. The increase is among the smallest since Social Security began automatically making cost of living adjustments in 1975.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today marking the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Yesterday, DeLauro and Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy announced the state is receiving an additional $65 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for recovery efforts. HUD had previously announced Connecticut would receive $71.2 million to help residents, businesses and communities recover from the storm.
