Calls for End to Republican Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today applauding the news that the National Head Start Association has received up to $10 million from philanthropists Laura and John Arnold. The funding will enable Head Start and Early Head Start programs that had been forced to close or were facing imminent closure due to the Republican Government Shutdown to stay open.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today on the potential for major furloughs of Sikorsky's workers as a result of the Republican Government Shutdown.  Unless the government re-opens in the coming days, a significant portion of Sikorsky's workforce will be furloughed because Department of Defense inspectors are unable to approve helicopters or helicopter parts to advance to the next stage of production.
