Needed for help with debris cleanup, repairing severe beach erosion, preparing for future storms
New Haven, CT — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) called upon the Army Corps of Engineers to tour the 3rd Congressional District areas impacted by Tropical Storm Irene and to assist in the recovery efforts. The Army Corps of Engineers provides assistance to areas impacted by disasters. Connecticut's shoreline was heavily impacted by the storm, and the Army Corps's assistance is needed to address resulting debris and beach erosion.

Residents, Businesses: Call 2-1-1 To Report Damage
WASHINGTON – All seven members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation Thursday urged President Obama to visit the state and observe first-hand the devastation caused by Hurricane Irene.
In a letter to the President, the delegation cited major flooding caused by five Connecticut rivers, coastal surge, and wave damage to support the case for an emergency declaration for the state.

The report details how Americans are struggling in these tough economic times, and the numbers are even higher for those families with children. In 2010, the food hardship rate for households without children was 14.9 percent; for families with children, it was 23.4 percent.
