NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) today marked UV Safety Month by calling on the country to follow Connecticut’s lead and institute a nationwide ban on tanning bed use by minors. She was joined in her call by the President of the Connecticut State Medical Society, Dr. Robert Russo, and Glastonbury dermatologist Dr. Donna Aiudi. Connecticut has prohibited the use of tanning beds by anyone under 17 years old since October 1, 2013.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and Senator Chris Murphy today held a roundtable discussion in East Haven to highlight the need for the Schedules That Work Act. The legislation, which would establish fair and reasonable workplace scheduling practices by empowering hourly employees with greater scheduling flexibility and predictability, will be introduced later this month.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) visited APS Technology in Wallingford today to tour their facility and deliver remarks urging a long-term reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. APS Technology uses financial products from the Export-Import Bank, which provides U.S. businesses with financing to help them sell their goods all over the world and create jobs here at home.

Would Help Nearly Five Million Workers Nationwide

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s decision to allow the importation of fresh beef from Northern Argentina and 14 Brazilian states. DeLauro is a former Chairwoman, and current member, of the subcommittee responsible for funding USDA.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today talked about fireworks safety with campers from the Green Dragons Summer Camp in advance of this weekend’s Fourth of July holiday. Sparklers and fountains, which produce sparks when lit, are the only legal fireworks for private use in the State of Connecticut. Other fireworks are permissible with a permit.
