Hartford, CT – U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), with Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn-3) today issued a joint statement on the amendment to include New Haven County, Connecticut in the federal disaster declaration issued by President Obama in April. This declaration resulted in the release of federal funds to help Connecticut communities recover from damages incurred from the January blizzard, action requested by the Connecticut Congressional Delegation in a letter to the President earlier that month.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement today, as Guilford resident Tom Gray and his family joined local veterans and community members to celebrate the Pentagon’s recent announcement that the remains of up to 388 sailors and Marines who lost their lives aboard the USS Oklahoma during the attack in 1941 will be exhumed and returned to their families back home.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)’s announcement of proposed changes to improve both humane handling and food safety inspections at facilities that produce veal meat. DeLauro, a former chair of the subcommittee responsible for funding USDA, has fought for these changes for over a decade.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) today joined a bipartisan, bicameral group of 62 Members of Congress in calling on the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to oppose recommendations from the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) that would make it more difficult for women to receive annual breast cancer screenings.

In Conjunction with Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) and Connecticut experts in child health and development held a discussion on infant mental health today at New Haven’s LULAC Head Start center. DeLauro is co-chair of the Congressional Baby Caucus, which recently held a briefing on the State of America’s Babies. That briefing featured testimony from the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics that discussed infant mental health.

For the next year his pastel piece, “Small Town USA,” will represent the Third Congressional District of Connecticut in the United States Capitol. Mark is a student at Guilford High School.
