Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) requested the report in her capacity as the senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Education.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro released the following statement of support for the State Department’sreported recommendation to remove Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List. Cuba has been on the List since 1982. In making its recommendation, the State Department has certified that Cuba has not harbored or supported terrorist for at least six months.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced today she is introducing a resolution that would proclaim tomorrow, April 10 Venture Smith’s Independence Day. Smith was an African prince who was kidnapped as a boy and enslaved in New England. He was later able to purchase his and his wife’s freedom and became a prominent member of 18th Century Connecticut. Smith eventually recorded his life story A Narrative of the Life and Adventures of Venture.
