Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) introduced the Federal Food Administration Act, legislation that would establish the Federal Food Administration, a single agency responsible for ensuring the safety of our nation’s food supply and promoting good nutrition. This new agency would take over food responsibilities currently housed at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Throughout history Connecticut men and women have played a pivotal role in shaping the military fortunes of our nation. Generation after generation have answered the call to service and in many cases laid down their lives in the defense of the freedoms and liberties at the heart of our great country.

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro introduced the Championing Honest and Responsible Transparency in Education Reform (CHARTER) Act, legislation that would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure funds made available under these Acts are not awarded to charter schools that enter into contracts with a for-profit entity for operating, overseeing, or managing the charter school.
