NEW HAVEN, CT—Ahead of a public meeting on the issue, the Connecticut Congressional delegation has written to President Barack Obama asking him to designate the New England Coral Canyons and Seamounts Area, off the coast of Cape Cod, as a National Marine Monument. Doing so would make it the first such monument in the Atlantic Ocean. Tonight’s meeting will be hosted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and participants will discuss possible permanent protections for the area.
Funds Will Advance Transit-Oriented Development in Enfield, Newington, North Haven, West Hartford, Windsor and Windsor Locks
HARTFORD, CT – The members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation and Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded $700,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration to conduct a study of transit-oriented development (TOD) opportunities in the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail corridor, also known as the Hartford Line. The federal funding will be matched by $200,000 in state funds.
